Birthday shtuff [23 Jul 2008|06:22pm]
[ mood | good ]
[ music | Adam and the Ants - Stand and Deliver ]

First off, thanx to all for the birthday wishes.

As weird as it may sound, I think this was probably one of my better bday's.

I took Fri off work so I had a long bday weekend since it's kinda lame to have it fall on a Sun. so you might as well get all the good stuff out of the way before the actual day.

Bubba surprised me Fri night when the change of plans to go eat ended up at buffalo wild wings and already had friends waiting for us at our table. I had a feeling something was up but didn't dwell on it cause it would only ruin the moment. AND I HAD A BIRTHDAY CAKE!!!! After not having one for ummm....about 5 yrs now? I had to laugh as to what bubba got on my cake....Spongebob *laughs*. Said that they didn't have Garfield so he went with the next idea. I'll post a pic once bubba is able to get it off his phone since he forgot to bring the camera along.

Sat. afternoon, I headed over to Mona's to catch the afternoon showing of Batman at the Studio Movie Grill in Arlington. (yes bubba, that was the one we went to before) That place is pretty neat though they could stand to give a little more space between everyone's chairs. The price for the food is decent, makes up for not having to pay out the ass for popcorn and the other essential junk food. The steak quesadillas were pretty good.

But as for the movie itself, I wouldn't mind seeing it again. My reason for going wasn't cause of Heath being dead but the idea of seeing him cast for the Joker since the beginning and seeing a pic of him, made me want to see it. If it wasn't for how they created the style of the Joker, I doubt I would've been hyped to see it cause I didn't go see the other when it first came out. Now I almost want to dress up as this version of the Joker for Halloween or maybe Nurse Joker, besides, I got the "joker" smile for it. *laughs* (though I'm not joking about having the kind of smile that I do, I was even told that back in 8th grade -___-) I think what Heath did to make the Joker shine was the more demented side he had than what Jack did for the Joker (though his version was good too) and in some ways, you can't help but snicker at his personality. And of course I love what they did with Harvey Dent's character too. I didn't know "he" was going to be in this movie till I read a Yahoo's review about the movie and it gave away the character which I didn't mind.

Speaking of dead actors and their HUGE roles they left behind but I'm really surprised no one has mentioned about how the whole thing was almost like The Crow when Brandon Lee was killed during the filming of the movie and the legacy he left behind with that movie.

Of course certain movie channels on tv last weekend had to show just about all the Batman movies and after seeing them, they are sooo cheesy!!! What I like about this new Batman is that it's more realistic and I guess a little more personal without that cheesy stage setup. I think picking ChiTown was a great choice to film it at.

Then on Sun. Mona and I went to Tokyo One for my bday dinner since they give you a gift, a "cake" (which all it was, was frozen whipped cream with fruit on it), and 10% off coupon. Oooh...and their red bean ice cream was really good. Plus if you sign up online, they send you a 10% coupon in the mail which I did and used mine up for dinner. I guess they give you two things to choose from for the gifts: a sake set which comes with 3 cups and the sake bottle or two tea cups that they use at the restaurant which I always liked and always wanted. Just ask [info]guardianhunter how every time we'd go there to eat, I'd always would want to walk out with her tea cup. Sooo....when our cute waiter brought all of this out, he had the tea cups and I guess I had a look of shock on my face and he was like "if you want the sake set, I can give you that instead." Which I didn't of course. So here are my cups which I am using already. It's the littlest things that make me happy, and THAT made me happy! Along with of course other things that Mona and I discussed this past weekend that I'll mention later on in the upcoming months or so. *squeals*

So all in all, it was a pretty good long birthday weekend.

It's that time of year again.... [16 Jul 2008|05:50pm]
[ mood | working ]
[ music | Gallow - Antiseptic ]

Maybe it's cause I got turning 30 out of the way that this yr didn't seem to come up on me as fast as last yr's birthday.

As per norm cause if I don't post it, I'll be smitted with a dead fish or receive a horse head in the mail for not posting my wish list *lol* . Don't feel obligated to do so.

~*~

Fannish things. SMUT is preferred though sap & lovely fluff is just as good (no angst either). Use your imagination on what to come up with (summer stuff, birthdays) just no yaoi.

Fanart or fics

Bleach - Renji/Rukia (maybe with Rikichi, Ikkaku, and Hanataro in the background since they are RenRuki fans *lol*), Renji & Rikichi, Renji & Ikkaku, Ikkaku/Mizuho (for those that can't remember she's Keigo's sister), & Ichigo/Orihime

One Piece - Luffy/Nami, Franky/Robin, Sanji/Robin, Ace and Luffy doing brotherly things.

Gungrave or Gungrave Overdose - Any characters but no Grave/Mika or Big Daddy/Maria (that still squicks me out).

~*~

Misc.

Candles. Can never have too many candles and I'm not picky about scents.

Gift certificates to book stores or online stores (or the candle thing). Easier to pick things out that way instead of having to drive over 15 miles to get there.

Anything with Garfield or Spongebob (didn't see that one coming did ya? ^_~)

Anything in regards to Beat Crusaders music. HMV has a decent selection but to really see all of BECR's stuff, click on the tabs for cds, singles, dvds. I already have EPopMaking,Ghost, Winterlong, Popdod, LP#9 dvd and Phantoms of the Popera dvd. You can surf their website in English, just click the area for it in the upper left where it says so.

And I have a wishlist going on here:

My Amazon.com Wish List

~*~

Last but not least, as strange as this may sound, but I've been wanting an Adam Ant t-shirt (L) for awhile now and just can't seem to find any or at least can't find what I want/have in mind which is him in the outfit that are in the pics linked.

For those that kinda forgot who he is, I uploaded some pics of him.

Also for anyone who needs my new mailing address, please email me for it.

Garfield and the itchies [10 Jul 2008|06:22pm]
[ mood | mellow ]
[ music | Gallow - Backbiting ]

Ever since I joined [info]garfielddaily again, I always enjoy how they put in some old strips from that same day but different yrs. I like to see how much the characters have progressed in the designs though to be honest, I think I'll always be a fan of the older stuff, maybe not so much of the very first Garfield design, but later in the 80's. Seeing some of the past strips bring back memories cause I'd recall some of them in those hard back Garfield books they used to release (not sure if they still do that or not but my older sis started and then got me doing it).

I always love moments like this cause it's soooooo soooo TRUE! And not only that but if you have two papers; one that you are really looking at and the other serves as a decoy, the cat will GO STRAIGHT to the one you are truly looking at.

But see how smaller and fatter Garfield looks than now? The present day Garfield, his legs are too lean and long. You can totally see the difference if you look at the older strips and the new ones to compare to.

And what's funny is seeing the way Garfield is walking in that strip, looks exactly the way Sam walks. Not sure if it's cause of the weight or what but his back-end sticks up like that too. Also, not only does Sam try to lay on whatever kind of paper you are messing with, but if I do any kind of exercises on the floor (laying or sitting), he feels that he has to be where I am and just plop down next to me (mostly leaning) to where I can barely do any kind of workout.

I love this one too.

~*~

As for the itchies, Garfield has expressed my sentiments exactly, aside from the scratching part of course.

The area I had biopsied two weeks ago on my left shoulder is finally healing and every now and then it will ITCH like CRRRRRRAZZZZZY!!!! THANK GOD I have not woken up in the middle of the night by catching myself scratching it cause I would be in a world of hurting. Oh, for those that I told about my issue, the test came back negative. *phew!*

Beat Crusaders "Chinese Jet Set" pv and tv stuff [07 Jul 2008|04:40pm]

The release of the 2nd new song from popdod "Chinese Jet Set".

You can dl it:

"Chinese Jet Set"

Quite a trippy vid and it's apparently a prequel to the Winterlong vid. Same ppl I guess they used to fill the band members shoes since that isn't the band behind the masks. I have no clue if there is any meaning behind all the craziness in the vid.

~*~

Last night since nothing good seemed to be on tv, I decided to see what the "Two Coreys" was like that is on A&E (Corey Haim and Corey Feldman). IS THIS SHIT FOR REAL??!! Like really? The whole thing just seems too planned out, it just seems like they are acting the whole bit and not having it be reality.

I don't know if Haim is jealous cause Feldman continued to do things in his life or what or that he cleaned up his act a bit. Haim became one of those no name actors and hit rock bottom pretty hard with the drugs. And regardless of this whole "sexual abuse" issue that he and Feldman apparently went through with the same guy, it really would not surprise me one bit if Haim came out to admit that he was gay. In fact, I think the pissyness that Haim feels towards Feldman and how he treated Feldman's wife, is like a jilted lover who was dumped hard on his ass so he wants to blame things on what Feldman did. I'm sure Feldman was part of the bad influence back in the late 80's but damn dude, start thinking and living your life yourself. I'm sure no one held a gun to his head that told him to do all the things he did to ruin his life.

I wanted to roll my eyes at the thought of them actually making a Lost Boys 2. They were showing preview clips for next Sunday's eps and it shows them on the set. Looks funny to see Feldman as the same Frog brother in the original, same get up and all, just looks a little older. Anyways, Haim looks like he's drunk or drugged up as they were trying to get him ready to shoot some scenes.

Here is a synopsis for the movie. Yeah, LOTS of eye rolling here folks, all it sounds like is a re-make of the orig. which no one should ever fuck with:

The sequel to the 1987 cult hit The Lost Boys takes us to the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson (Hilgenbrink) and his younger sister, Nicole (Reeser). Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gangs lifeline before his sisters transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Feldman). Subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors offer homage to the Lost Boys legend and set a sinister tone of impending doom.

The one eps had him putting an ad in the Variety about being serious on the apology to Feldman and how he was back in business since he is so hard up to get a job. Well when Haim and his assistant were checking online of the comments left in regards to the ad, Haim had a fucking, very childish hissy fit about "why do ppl have to say such horrible things! Why can't they all be nice!" (granted there were nice comments posted too) Uhh...buddy, ever heard of opinions and such is a life??!!! Get over it douche bag, it's what life's about. I'm surprised he didn't try to kill himself over it. *shudders* To think that back when I was a teeny bopper, I used to think he was sooo dreamy. He's so gross and did not age well though he looks about the same but older in the face.

And the other thing about why I brought it up about the gay issue is that Haim wanted Feldman to go to counseling with him. A MARRIAGE counselor! Everything that Haim brings up, does make it sound like the jilted lover. When Feldman was telling some guests about the whole counseling thing, he had one of the Nelson twins at his place, I think it was Gunner. HOLY SHIT!!! I saw a pic awhile back of both of them and it's just so weird to see how much they changed in looks.

I'll give it a few more tries to see if the feeling of the show changes before I quit watching.

I finally got around to uploading the Beat Crusaders popdod dvd. Keep in mind the quality of the clips are average after they were converted to avis from the actual dvd. If you want better quality, buy the dvd.

Beat Crusaders Live @ the Boyz of Summer '07

popdod dvd 1-2
popdod dvd 3-4

I think out of all the live clips that they had included on their dvds, this is probably the best one yet!

Some will be happy to know that they decided to just blur their eyes. So you can actually see their faces with no digital masks or no squiggly lines like they had for the live stuff on the Ghost dvd.

I'll just make it short and sweet till I get my pics uploaded and hopefully will have more pics from elsewhere by the weekend to go along with my write up as well.

Rode up to Oklahoma on the motorcycle to the pow wow that was mentioned awhile back. Thankfully we were blessed that we had good weather considering all the tornadoes going on to the north and east of us. We had two instances of rain, one was Fri morning after we woke up but that was just a little passing shower and the other occured late Sun night but thankfully that got it out of it's system by morning when it was time to head home. Had some heavy wind if anything.

They're moving on up!!! Next stop, Detroit Redwings *bitesnails* I just hope that this next set will be a good game. Just something about the Redwings always scare me, I guess cause they play well and hard. I don't want the Stars to choke up in the first two games since it will be away.

Anyways, last night's game against San Jose was a damn good game. Went into 4 OT's and didn't end till like 1:30am this morning. 2-1 was the final game with Brenden Morrow making the final goal. Bubba stayed up to watch the game but I gave up at 12:30, I was dead tired.

For those wanting more on the deal, just search around any sports news and I'm sure they have it covered somewhere. Both goalies played pretty hard and I know some of the saves on San Jose's side blew me away. Turco had 61 saves and Nabokov had 53.

Here are two pics I got off of Yahoo from last night's game.

[music download] Class of the 80's "Orange" [02 May 2008|03:05pm]
[ mood | good ]

One of the better highlights of my week when I got this in the mail. There are two different versions of this: Orange and Green. I don't plan on getting Green since it didn't interest me much and the song I wanted off of it, I was able to get from someone. But I got this since I was dying to hear Beat Crusaders version of "Kids in America" since I always liked that song. And now when I listen to it, I can't help but grin. Hell, I even heard a certain song before I went to bed last night and I actually could feel myself smiling when I went to sleep. It put me in a better mood than what I've been in as of late and I even felt better when I woke up this morning too.

Just like the AC/DC tribute album, the songs are re-made by a bunch of Japanese bands. This came out in '99. There are some songs that #1. I haven't heard before and #2. just not overly crazy about. I'll put the original artist behind ( ).

Here, I guess. [22 Apr 2008|04:20pm]
[ mood | discontent ]
[ music | Prong- Rude Awakening ]

Should make some sort of update I suppose. Not much to say really.

  • Issues on the home front just put me in a "don't really give a fuck anymore"/numb attitude about anything and everything.

  • Had a pretty shitty night last night when it came to sleeping. It was warm in the house since it's been in the 80's for the past few days and even with the windows open and the ceiling fan running didn't do much. Just felt so restless. Plus the cat was very antsy last night so he kinda kept me awake. Then to top that off, I was having some majorly fucked up dreams that kinda scare me. I don't feel sleepy which is surprising to me since it felt like I hardly slept at all. Had a really weird dream last week too that scared the crap out of me and couldn't wait to wake myself up.

  • Lack of motivation of any fandom or watching anime has put me in a damper. I guess I chalk that up between the home front situation and just not really finding the need to really get into much anime anymore unless something just JUMPS at me and sucks me in (not many have been giving me that feeling since the last few yrs though OP will no doubt be my most fav series.) I can't even push myself to try out any new shows. It's taking me a few weeks to finally watch what I had dl'ed of OP and Bleach from these past few weeks. I might just get the chance to catch up a bit tonight at work.

  • I've been pushing myself harder to learn Japanese so that's actually taking up a good bit of my time while at work and a teeny tiny bit at home. I've gotten Hiragana out of the way and working on learning kana before moving to the next steps that will be challenging. But I like the idea that I can hopefully learn a new language I never got to do before.

  • It's also not helping my shitty mood about the previous chapters of Tenjou Tenge #113 in regards to Bunshichi. I don't think I ever cried that hard over a damn anime/character. Maybe I'll make a separate post about that soon as well as a link for the dl to the chapter and #114. Though I gotta say, after seeing #114, I can't wait to see what Masataka is going to do.

  • Never got around to thanking those that dropped me some prompts in regards to Orihime and Ichigo and RenRuki awhile back. Alot of good ideas and I'll try to see what I can come up with later on when I feel the need to be creative.

And the uplifting bit for me,

  • The tracklisting for the new Beat Crusader's cd is as such:

    01. TIME FLIES, EVERYTHING GOES
    02. LEMON HEAD
    03. BECAUSE
    04. SHOOTING STAR
    05. GARDEN IN THE SHELL
    06. WORK IT OUT
    07. CHINESE JET SET
    08. OLGADIES
    09. LET'S GET BACK
    10. SOLDIERS IN MY SOUL
    11. SHOOT THE SKY

[download] Thunder Tracks "Tribute to AC/DC" [01 Apr 2008|05:05pm]
    [ mood | giggly ]

Even though it arrived on Sat, I wasn't around when the PO tried to drop it off so I had to wait a looooong weekend for Mon. to roll around to get it in my hands. I wish I understood Japanese cause the dvd portion "School of AC/DC" seemed amusing but I have no idea who the two guys were that were doing their own little skit that sounded like it had nothing to do with what the other guests were doing.

Thoughts on the cd is this, as an AC/DC fan, this album did NOT disappoint me!! But you also have to have an open mind while listening to it, you can't complain when it comes to comparing the original song to the remake. Each band puts their own style to it. Some keeps it close to the original, some tone it down, some make it upbeat, some make it heavier, and so forth. Plus with alot of these bands, I never heard their music. I might have seen their name but that's about as far as it went. Now I'm going to have to check some of them out. And I'm sure that what I talk about here, half of you don't have a clue.

BECR's version of Thunderstruck really impressed me. Not just the music (which sounds so funny when you hear the original once you hear this) but the way that Hidaka sings the vocals gives it a new twist that I really like.

Scoobie Do's version of Heatseeker, the song overall is quite different of how they handled it but it's neat to see how these bands give it their own mix.

I really like this version of Hells Bells. I guess it has a bit of a heavy/mellow side, if that makes any sense. *lol* It sounds so neat to hear an electric acoustic sound to it instead of that hard hitting edge. For some reason, this remake just gives me chills and thought it was awesome that Hidaka added his own vocals to it too.

Whole Lotta Rosie and Dirty Deeds (both Bon Scott vocals), the bands that did those remakes blew me away on how close they could get their vocals like Bon's.

The weirdest out of them all is probably the remake of You Shook Me All Night Long. It's instrumental but I try to place where the lyrics go and it's a bit hard to follow but an interesting idea to do that.

Soooo..anyways, I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

AC/DC tribute cd release; Type O Negative tour dates [18 Mar 2008|03:25pm]
    [ mood | anxious ]

EEEE!!! I can't wait till I get this in my hands. A bunch of Japanese bands got together to do a tribute cd for AC/DC. The thought of some of these bands doing AC/DC songs make me snicker cause I'm not sure how it's going to sound. I'm happy to see Beat Crusaders do Thunderstruck cause that was one my fav. "newer" songs when Razor's Edge came out. And anxious to hear Scoobie Do's version of Heatseaker cause that's another one of my favs. (for those that watched Gungrave, they did the ending theme)

They are also doing some live club dates for this album and I would so KILL to see this in person. Believe me, it wasn't far from my mind about going to Japan the 1st of April to see it but I won't waste my money just for a few days trip when I could probably use it to go to Japan later this yr for a week and still have time/money to go again next yr. (pending if we still go to South Dakota)

I was shocked and happy when I saw the entry about Type O Negative going on tour again. But sadly, as much as I would like to go, I can't get that day off of work. [info]scarbie, they are going to be in Chi-town again at the HOB if you are interested in seeing them again.

You can find the tour dates here.

In need of Bleach prompts, movie stuff, and music stuff [11 Mar 2008|03:12pm]
    [ mood | working ]
    [ music | Beat Crusaders - New Song ]

    In no order really.

    Movies

This past weekend on the STARZ channel, they've been airing Quentin Tarantino & Robert Rodriguez's movie "Grindhouse". The first movie is called Planet Terror and the other is Death Proof.

I remember seeing some previews online when it was about ready to be released but forgot all about it since then. This shit is so funny yet kinda gross in the gore dept. if you like any of these two guys stuff.

I like the idea behind of how they filmed it. Kinda hard to describe unless you watch it.

Planet Terror had a shitload of known actors for cameos (Bruce Willis, Sayid from Lost, Fergy, Josh Brolin, etc) the list goes on. The story poked fun at the whole zombie (aka sickos) situation like most zombie movies have. You can't help but laugh out loud with some of the stupid shit they did that of course, is so obvious. I thought it was neat to have Freddy Rodríguez (6ft under) be the main guy and Rose McGowen's role for it suited her.

Death Proof had Kurt Russell as being the bad guy which was amusing too to see him in this setting. One good thing about the movie is the mmmmm.....hot muscle classic cars. What kinda threw me off a bit was that it felt like the first part of DP was in the 70's just cause of the vehicles being used, the music, the clothes but yet they were using reg. cell phones. The car scenes before that part ends had my jaw dropping on the gore scene. The 2nd part of the movie that takes place a few months later, I laughed my ass off as to the turn of events.

If you read the synopsis of what happens in both movies, it pretty much tells you everything that went on without having to watch it but you lose the artistic side of it by not seeing it for yourself.

    Music

Bubba was pretty impressed with NIN's new stuff that he said to go ahead and place an order for the cd (which won't arrive till April when it's finally released). When you do that, they send you a one time link to dl the full cd and the pdf file as well as some extras like wallpapers and icons. By burning all the music on disc instead of trying to find time to listen to it online, gave me time to really listen to it since it is instrumental. It's a pretty good cd, pretty sad when this cd is and sounds better than what Year Zero turned out. There are some parts that would sound good with vocals but no biggie.

I like the idea of what Trent did when it came to listening to the whole thing on the website or hearing just the first vol for free. I think some bands should do this. That way if it's a new band that ppl aren't sure of the sound, they can preview the full album and if you like it, buy it. OR if you aren't fond of the whole thing and just want certain songs, offer whatever song you want for a price.

Right now the only thing I have up for grabs is the wallpaper that came with the extras. Choose whatever size you want by the folders listed:

    Widescreen

    Standard

I'm sure peeps are getting tired of me talking about certain bands but when I'm hooked into something, it has a lasting affect for quite awhile. Anyways, I finally got around to watching what I had recorded of Later with Jools Holland (on the FUSE ch). Before I go any farther, I think that is a pretty good show. You can showcase about 4 bands in one show and each one gets to play two sets. Muse was on one time, damn good too!! I'll have to find that clip on YT since I deleted what I had recorded two months ago.

So this one that I taped had Foo Fighters. Their 2nd set just wowed me. It was only Dave playing the acoustic guitar for "Razor" and I got hooked on that song when they played it on the Skin & Bones cd. Something about the guitar chords for the song draws me to it. Speaking of Skin & Bones, they should've released a dvd for that live set.

I have made it my goal to see this band next time around DAMN IT!!!

    Bleach

It's not often I get in this mood but this past weekend, I wanted to write something for IchiHime but I just couldn't think of what to write about (nothing long mind you). I guess for all the hate still going around with Orihime recently makes me want to write something for her and Ichigo (yeah, still have a dislike for Ichigo but will write him for Orihime's sake). So here's where you peeps come in, or at least I hope someone will come through for me.

I need 5 prompts for IchiHime and while I'm at it, 5 prompts for RenRuki. I want to try and just stick with something small, like I used to write 120 words and still make sense. Or maybe even go as far as 500 like I did a few yrs ago for two things I wrote for GW.

Anyone can reply with 5 prompts or just 1 or 3, whatever comes to mind. I'll take as many as I can that way I have a variety to work with.

    New NIN "Ghosts I-IV" [05 Mar 2008|02:40pm]
    [ mood | working ]

Yes, you read that right. But here's the kicker......from what I read, the whole thing is instrumental. Apparently it's something that Trent's been wanting to do for a long time now. Seems like it will be 2 discs. It's not going to be released till April but Trent is allowing sales on the site before it comes out. Or if you look around, there are already torrents out there if you want it for yourself or you can dl it for free at the site. These are only for the 1st 9 tracks from vol.1.

I only heard 2 songs (which seems as if they have no titles to) so far. You can listen to the whole album, all 36 tracks on the site.

Click the pic to get to the NIN site.

I'm surprised Manson never came out with something like this since he too had a freaky sound, well, at least in the early band yr's but then again, Trent produced alot of their older albums.
